HAIL CLAIMS and Collateral Damage?

Posted in Atlanta Hail Damage Information, Claims Guide with tags , , , , , , , on December 8, 2009 by HAPS

This vent was damaged by hail.

When you file a hail damage claim an adjuster will make an appointment to inspect your home to determine how much damage you’ve incurred on your home or business.

During the hail claim inspection the first thing the adjuster will look for is collateral damage.  Collateral damage is damage to parts of the roof/home other than the shingles.    Examples of collateral damaged areas could be exhaust vents (see picture), power vents, gutters, air conditioning units, window screens, siding, etc.

Quite often your roof vents will be the first sign of hail damage because many of these vents are made of soft metal such as aluminum.   These items will damage much easier than the actual shingles which protect your roof.

Based on our experience… if you don’t have collateral damage on any of your vents, you can generally expect that your claim will be denied.

Collateral damage is just one sign of hail damage.  If you suspect your home could have suffered from the Atlanta area Hail storms of 2009, 2010, or 2011 contact one of our representatives as soon as possible to arrange for a free inspection of your roof.  CLICK HERE to fill out a request form and we’ll contact you within 24 hrs.   Our representatives don’t “eyeball” your roof, we actually climb up on your roof and carefully pre inspect your roof to determine if we believe you have enough hail damage to warrant filing a claim with your insurance company.

If we don’t find damage, we will tell you just that.  Many companies try to get you to file a claim whether you have damage or not in hopes that a percentage of their contracts will be approved by the adjuster.  They see this as a numbers game.  At Home Asset Protection Services, LLC we don’t see one of your most important assets as a game.  If you file a claim with our company as your representative we will meet with the adjuster to show the results of our inspection.  We don’t want to waste your time, their time, or our time if you don’t have hail damage. We also don’t want to have to come to your house a 2nd or 3rd time to meet with the adjuster if we don’t believe you have damage.   If we do see damage, however, we will fight for you to protect your rights as a homeowner….period.

Call 404-933-6610 if you would like to speak with one of our professional representatives to discuss your options as a homeowner in the Atlanta area who may have been impacted by the hailstorms in February, March, or April of 2009, 2010, and/or 2011.

Hail Storm Damage to Roofs Across Atlanta Area

Posted in Atlanta Hail Damage Information with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 26, 2009 by HAPS

In 2009 the Atlanta, Georgia metro area has experienced a tremendous amount of hail storms causing hail damage to homes and cars across the Metro Atlanta area.

Hail has ranged from pea sized, dime sized, quarter sized, golf ball sized, and even baseball sized resulting in thousands of homes and cars damaged from these hail storms.

While car damage is evident, homeowners often fail to realize that hail damage has occurred on their roof. The impact of hail damage to your roof can be quite expensive if you don’t have your home inspected and repaired quickly. Roof leaks, Wood Rot, Mold, and wall damage are just a few problems which can occur to your home if you have a hail damaged roof.

It is the homeowner’s responsibility to ensure that their home is protected if hail damage has occurred. In many cases your homeowners insurance will pay for full replacement of your roof (less deductible) if you’ve experienced hail damage. If you wait until you notice water leaks from your roof you may have waited too long to have your roof replacement covered by your insurance company.

Your insurance company will not contact you to remind you to have your home inspected. In fact, in many cases your insurance company and adjusters will try to prove just the opposite…that your roof is not damaged enough to warrant a claim being paid, or your claim amount should only cover the bare minimum for repair of your hail damaged roof.

If you have had hailstorms in your area you need a qualified professional to inspect your home and represent YOU during the entire claims and re-roof process.

At HOME ASSET PROTECTION SERVICES, LLC (HAPS), we do just that.

We offer a FREE inspection of your home to determine if hail damage has occurred to your roof. If damage has occurred, we assist you during the entire claims process by offering the following services:

1. Free Home Inspection for Hail Damage.

2. Assistance in filing and processing a claim with your homeowners insurance company.

3. Meet with insurance adjuster to ensure you receive fair compensation for replacement value of your roof.

4. Upon approval, we meet with you to select quality shingles which protect and beautify your home.

5. Arrange for new roof to be installed from qualified LOCAL roofer, and keep you informed during the entire process.

Let us handle it all to protect your assets. Once approved, the only decisions you will have to make is what color shingles you want and if you want any special upgrades.

If you have had hailstorms in your area, it is very important that you have someone with experience to represent you during this entire process. It is equally important that homeowners act quickly if hail storms have occurred in your area. Insurance companies generally only pay claims within a short period of time from the actual storm. DON’T WAIT UNTIL IT’S TOO LATE!

If you have hail damage and don’t have an inspection done, you could end up having to replace your roof at YOUR expense, and this expense can cost thousands of dollars, quite often with NO ASSISTANCE from your insurance company.

Please have your home inspected if you have had hail storms in your area, especially if you have seen neighbors homes re-roofed recently. Call 404-933-6610 to arrange for a FREE inspection of your home if you suspect hail damage to your home. It could save you thousands of dollars, it can give you piece of mind knowing your roof and your rights are protected, and it can protect one of your most valuable assets….your home.
