Free Hail Damage Pre Inspection

Posted in Atlanta Hail Damage Information, Claims Guide with tags , , , , , , on January 12, 2010 by HAPS

How do you know if you have hail damage on your roof?  Most homeowners don’t climb on their roofs to see if damage has occured, nor do we recommend you do so.

You need a thorough pre inspection by a qualified roofer who has experience in this area.

Our team of professionals do thorough pre inspections before we advise you to file a hail damage claim with your insurance company.  During our inspection we climb on your roof, we take pictures of your vents and shingles, and we count the hail “dings” in a 10′ x 10′ test square just like the adjusters will do if a claim is filed.

When we are done with the inspection, we show you the pictures so you can have visual evidence of your roof before you decide to file a hail damage claim with your insurance company.

After we show you the pictures we assist you in the remainder of the claims process.  We help you file the claim, we explain the entire claims process to you, we meet with the insurance adjuster during their inspection to represent YOU,  we make sure the measurements and compensation are correct, we explain the adjuster summary to you, we assist you in getting your full claim amount, we install your roof in a timely manner, and we assist you in recovering any final payments due from the insurance company, and we warranty our workmanship for 5 years.

Handling this yourself can be overwhelming if you don’t have experience in this area.  Home Asset Protection Services will make the process easy for you.

So if you’re interested in finding out if your home may qualify for a roof replacement due to Hail Damage, call 404-93-6610 to arrange for a FREE pre inspection of your home.

We look forward to representing you.

Common Atlanta Hail Damage Roofing Scams

Posted in Atlanta Hail Damage Information, Claims Guide with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on November 10, 2009 by HAPS

Over the past few months we’ve run across several homeowners in the Metro Atlanta area who have been taken advantage of by companies in the hail damage roof replacement business.

The large amount of hail damage over the past few years has brought millions of dollars of business into the area.  With this magnitude of opportunity comes a small percentage of scammers who don’t represent the best interest of the homeowners.

Here are a few Hail Damage Roof scams we’ve run across in the last month.

One Snellville, GA homeowner told us she signed a contract with a company.  Upon receipt of insurance funds from the hail damage claim she wrote out a check to the roofing company.  The company cashed the check and then disappeared.  She can’t locate the company (who was an out of state company) and her insurance company obviously is not responsible for the error. This homeowner will now have to pay for the repairs out of pocket.

Another homeowner had their roof replaced from a roofing company who was also registered out of state.  When the work was complete the homeowner noticed a problem with the roof which needed to be fixed.  Once again, this homeowner was not able to reach the company via the phone number he was provided.   Now they have leaks and repairs which need to be done which will not be covered by the insurance company because the damage is not storm related. Again, these repairs will have to be paid for out of pocket.

Yet another homeowner went under contract with a roofer, and after they issued the initial payment to the roofer… the roofer wouldn’t do the work in a timely manner.  After 2 months of waiting the homeowner finally was able to get the check back from the original roofer, and we were able to get the job done promptly.  We even started the work without a downpayment to ensure the homeowner that the work would be done by our company.  It was a risk on our part, but we felt the homeowner would be a great reference after we helped show them that all companies are not scammers.

As you can see, there are many ways to be taken advantage of by these roofing companies and hail damage claims companies.

Some precautions you can take are:

Make the company show you a copy of their business license and/or their corporation filings to make sure they really are a local company.  It’s easy to buy a cell phone with a local number, and many out of state companies are doing this to make it appear they are “local”.  Find out their home office location to verify they really are locally owned.

Make sure the roofing company offers a warranty for the workmanship of their job.  Of course you need to once again make sure they are local so you can find them if warranty repairs are needed.

Ask for references:  A good company will have plenty of references for you to check up on to see how well the company did throughout the entire Hail Damage claim process.  Finding satisfied customers shouldn’t be too difficult if the hail damage claims company did a good job because the actual service provided is quite valuable.  Getting a quality new roof paid for by your insurance company is a good deal.  It’s fair, it’s necessary, and it’s a great value for little to no cost.  A company that won’t provide references raises a huge flag.

At Home Asset Protection Services, LLC we offer professional service, prompt attention to your hail damage claim, and we are located in Suwanee, GA.  We have many references who are more than pleased with our work, and we’ll be happy to provide references to you if you decide to look into the opportunity of having your roof replaced from Hail Damage in the Atlanta area.

Make Sure and Use Experienced Roofers when Replacing Your Roof from Hail Damage

We use experienced Roofing Contractors to Make sure the work is done right.

We use experienced Roofing Contractors to Make sure the work is done right.

We’ve heard some horror stories about roofers who have taken advantage of homeowners who aren’t experienced in dealing with hail damage claims.

For example, one homeowner explained their roofer ordered the shingles, had them delivered, and completed the work; but the roofer skipped town without paying for the shingles after collecting the money from the homeowner.  Guess who had to pay for the shingles?  The homeowner.

Be sure and check references before agreeing to any deals with contractors.  There are plenty of reputable companies who will take good care of your needs…you’ve just got to find them.

At Home Asset Protection Services we eliminate the guesswork by providing you with local, licensed, bonded, and insured contractors with a proven track record of quality work.  In addition, our approved contractors offer a 5 year warranty on the workmanship of their work performed.   We believe using local contractors is very important to help ensure repairs will be made if problems occur in the future.  If you use an out of state contractor you may find it difficult to find someone to correct mistakes if they are made and determined at a later time.

Don’t take chances.  Your home is one of your most important assets.  Use Home Asset Protection Services if you suspect you have hail damage on your roof and you want a professional team to assist you in process.

Note: We currently service the Metro Atlanta area only.  Call 404-933-6610 if you would like to schedule an appointment to determine if you may qualify for a new roof due to damage suffered from hail storms.
