This is a quick guide to making sure you follow the proper steps to getting your hail damage claim taken care of without having to worry about having problems with your insurance company.

Understand, there are two kinds of companies involved in this business.  First, you have companies who want you to file a claim no matter what in hopes you will get approved.  Second, there are companies who want to make sure you have hail damage before you put in a claim.

The second kind of company is definitely your best choice.  They do pre inspect your home carefully because they don’ t want to waste time meeting with your adjuster if they know damage is not apparent.  Also, they don’t want you to file a claim if you don’t qualify, and they don’t want to get a reputation with the insurance company of being a company who isn’t concerned with the expense the insurance company must incur to pay adjusters to inspect your home.

While not verified, it is assumed that the more professional companies have a better reputation with the insurance companies resulting in better service during the claims process.

When deciding what YOU need to do to find out if your home is a potential candidate for a hail damage claim approval, we suggest you use a company who preinspects your home and offers an honest opinion of their findings.  These companies will give you a more detailed explanation of their inspection along with reasons why you should or should not file a claim.

[NOTE: On larger claims amounts the check may be issued to you AND your mortgage company.  In the case of the latter, it can take up to 2 weeks to get your check endorsed by your mortgage company.]  After funds get deposited and paid to your hail damage claims services company i.e. roofer, it will take between 1 – 2 weeks to get the actual work done on your roof.  When the work is completed your contractor will issue a final invoice for the completed work.  When submitted to your insurance company, it will take between a few days and a couple of weeks to get your final check from the insurance company.  Finally, depending on who is named on the check, it can take between 2 days and 2 weeks to get final check endorsed and deposited.
